Meadow Essence: Botanical Tallow Balm

Meadow Essence is back and is reformulated to be safe for facial use! We’ve swapped out the plant derived oils and beeswax for grass fed beef tallow and kept all the soothing botanicals! Regionally sourced grass fed beef tallow is rendered several times before being infused with Yarrow, Sweet Fern, Plantain, Calendula, Lavender and Rose. We’ve added a touch of Evening Primrose and Moringa Oils along with a touch of chamazulene rich steam distilled essential oils of Yarrow and Tansy for more skin soothing support. Pair with a hydrosol for minimalist approach to facial care, use instead of an oil for Gua Sha massage, or use on rashes and other minor skin irritation. 

Key Ingredients

Grass fed Beef Tallow- Similar in composition to the oils our skin naturally produces, tallow is highly compatible with human skin and full of bioavailable nutrients including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A,D,E and K.

Calendula Extract- Calendula Extract- Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds Calendula is widely used in cosmetic products for its soothing properties, reducing redness and irritation and healing wounds thanks to its carotenoid rich composition. We grow several varieties of Calendula in our apothecary garden for use in our products.

Plantain- Plantain has a long history in folk herbalism of use in skin affiliations. Plantain contains the chemical compound allantoin which helps speed cellular regeneration. Rich in vitamins A and C as well as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and toning properties make plantain a great ally for healthy skin. 

Yarrow- Yarrow’s strong antibacterial and ant-inflammatory abilities make it well suited to sensitive skin types struggling with redness or rosacea. The formula contains both a yarrow extract and essential oil to harness a broader range of yarrow’s lipophilic constituents.

Tansy- The chamazulene rich essential oil is antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal and rich in antioxidants. Blue Tansy oil is helpful for a range of skin irritation issues including acne, eczema, rosacea and other skin irritations.
